About our writer
Samantha Lazar
First smitten with Philly on a fifth-grade trip, I came to University City from New York for college. After graduating and getting some world-wandering under my belt, I came back, fully convinced that Philly is the best, most livable city I could find. When I'm not writing about my favorite city I work in theater, teach, embark on bizarre art projects, and take a secret pride in the fact that my English degree is not more lucrative: I live on my wits, like "lispers, losels, loblolly-men, and louts" — but hey, I can quote obscure poetry! I'm a sculpture and experimental theater enthusiast, and can often be found wandering Philly's streets and gathering rusty bits of metal.
